consonance
I’ve been reading a lot of articles about the biology of music and the neuroscience behind musical appreciation. One finding that stands out is that the circuits for language and music processing are usually on opposite sides of the brain. Maybe that is why some music seems profound - because it appeals to both sides of our brains.
Reading the papers I’m glad I didn’t go down the neuroscience route. There’s so much work that goes into identifying which structures in the brain are responsible for certain types of musical skill. These results are interesting and the experiments that discoverer them are very clever, but knowing which parts of the brain produce a behavior isn’t that useful except to a surgeon.
For me right now it would be best for me to get some prototype up and running as soon as possible.
